The Glitching Gallery

Digital Brushstrokes
Number Artist adjusted his blue sunglass goggles and stepped through the main entrance of his Computer Art Gallery. The fortress stretched high above Story Book Metropolis, its five towers gleaming in the morning sunlight. Each tower held different art supplies—crayons, markers, pens, pencils, and paintbrushes—all perfectly organized.
"Another beautiful day to create," he said, walking toward the central display room.
His latest digital paintings covered the walls. A majestic dragon breathed silver fire. A family of robots played in a mechanical garden. A sailing ship crossed stormy seas under purple clouds.
Number Artist pulled out his tablet to add finishing touches to the dragon painting. Blue light shimmered around his hands as he worked. But something felt different today. The screen flickered once, then twice.
"That's strange," he muttered.
The dragon's eyes seemed to follow his movement. He blinked hard and looked again. Just his imagination, surely. The gallery's computer systems hummed quietly around him, but there was an odd static in the air he'd never noticed before.
The Escaped Canvas
Number Artist stepped closer to examine the dragon painting. The static grew louder, crackling through the air like electricity before a storm.
Suddenly, the screen exploded with light. The silver dragon burst from the painting in a shower of pixels, its massive wings spreading wide as it roared. Digital sparks flew everywhere as the creature materialized in the gallery's main hall.
"What's happening?" Number Artist shouted, diving behind a display case.
The dragon's eyes glowed like molten silver as it swooped overhead, knocking over art supplies. Behind it, the painting showed only an empty cave where the dragon once lived.
More screens flickered around the room. The robot family began climbing out of their mechanical garden. The sailing ship's crew jumped from their stormy seas onto the gallery floor, leaving wet footprints on the polished ground.
Number Artist's blue goggles reflected the chaos as paintings throughout the Computer Art Gallery came alive. His digital creations were escaping into the real world.
A baker from one of his smaller paintings ran past, clutching a tray of floating bread rolls that defied gravity.
"My art is alive," he whispered in amazement and terror.
