Unexpected Arrivals

Albert pressed his nose against the car window as they pulled into Disney's Pop Century Resort. Giant yo-yos and bowling pins towered over the colorful buildings, each one painted in bright blues, pinks, and yellows.

"This place is awesome!" Ann squealed, clutching her Mickey balloon tighter.

Father Andy parked near the 1980s section, where a massive Rubik's Cube sat beside their building. Mother Alice checked her phone for their room number while Albert unfolded his resort map.

"Room 2847," she announced. "That's in the—"

A loud crash echoed from the courtyard. Albert looked up from his map to see two figures arguing near the giant computer. One was a blue jay wearing a backwards baseball cap, the other a raccoon in a green shirt.

"Dude, I told you not to touch anything!" the blue jay squawked.

"It's not my fault!" the raccoon shot back. "How was I supposed to know it would explode?"

Albert blinked twice. Cartoon characters at Disney World wasn't that weird, but these two looked remarkably real.

When the Lights Go Out

The blue jay spotted Albert staring and waved. "Hey kid! You see that giant computer explode too?"

Albert dropped his map. "You can talk!"

"Of course I can talk," the raccoon said, brushing dust off his green shirt. "I'm Rigby. This is Mordecai."

"Regular Show characters!" Ann bounced excitedly. "You're real!"

Mordecai scratched his head feathers. "Regular Show? Dude, we're just trying to fix this mess before Benson finds out."

Father Andy approached with his camera raised. "This is incredible! How did you get here?"

"Magic portal accident," Rigby shrugged. "Now we're stuck at this weird hotel place."

Mother Alice checked her phone. "The Disney app says the entire resort's power grid just went offline. Every building."

Albert picked up his map, noticing the lights flickering throughout Pop Century. Families wandered around looking confused as elevators stopped working.

"Uh oh," Mordecai gulped. "That computer controlled more than we thought."

A familiar voice boomed across the courtyard: "MORDECAI! RIGBY! WHAT DID YOU DO NOW?"

A red gumball machine stormed toward them, steam practically shooting from his dome.
