Morning Patrol

Ms. Crayon Zebra stood on the highest tower of her fortress, watching Craft Room City wake up below. The morning sun painted the buildings in soft pastels, and she could see artists heading to work with their supplies.

"Another peaceful day," she said to herself, adjusting her blue mask.

Her assistant, Rico the Robot, rolled up behind her on squeaky wheels. His silver body gleamed, and his round LED eyes blinked green.

"Good morning, Ms. Zebra! The city scanners show everything normal," Rico announced in his cheerful mechanical voice.

She nodded and stretched her arms. Her supersuit felt comfortable after years of wearing it. From up here, she could see the art galleries, the craft stores, and the painting studios that made their city special.

"I love mornings like this," she said. "When creativity flows everywhere."

Rico's eyes suddenly flickered yellow. "Wait... detecting something unusual in Sector Seven."

Ms. Crayon Zebra's ears perked up. Her peaceful morning was about to change.

The Gray Wave

Ms. Crayon Zebra and Rico zoomed through the streets on her hover-scooter, heading toward Sector Seven. The wind whipped past her striped ears as they weaved between morning commuters.

"There!" Rico pointed with his mechanical arm. "The Craft Supply Warehouse!"

Ms. Crayon Zebra gasped. A massive gray wave was spreading across the building like spilled paint. Every crayon box it touched turned completely colorless.

"It's moving fast," she said, landing near the warehouse entrance.

A small hummingbird with emerald feathers darted toward them, chirping frantically.

"Hello there," Ms. Crayon Zebra said gently. "What's wrong?"

The hummingbird flew in circles, then zoomed back toward the warehouse. Its bright green color was already fading to pale gray.

"Rico, scan this immediately!"

Rico's eyes flashed red. "The gray effect appears to drain color from everything it touches. If it reaches the city's main art district..."

"All creativity will disappear," Ms. Crayon Zebra finished.

The gray wave suddenly surged forward, much faster than before. It was heading straight for the elementary school's art classroom across the street, where children were arriving for their morning painting class.
