The Morning Sketch

Ms. Crayon Alligator stretched her green-scaled arms and yawned inside her tower home. The morning sun painted Canvas Zoo Metropolis in golden hues through her tall windows. She grabbed her giant green crayon from its special stand.

"Time for my daily practice," she said, floating three feet off the ground.

She pointed the crayon at her easel and concentrated. A streak of bright green light shot out, creating a simple flower drawing. The petals looked perfect.

"Excellent! Now let's try something bigger."

She aimed at a blank wall and drew a butterfly. The crayon sparked strangely, crackling with odd purple electricity. The butterfly's wings twitched on the wall.

"That's... new," she muttered, golden eyes widening.

The drawn butterfly suddenly peeled off the wall and fluttered around her room, knocking over a lamp.

"What in Canvas Zoo is happening to my powers?"

Purple Sparks and Phone Calls

Ms. Crayon Alligator chased the flying butterfly around her room, her blue cape flapping behind her.

"Come back here!" she called, reaching up with her green-scaled hands.

The butterfly dive-bombed her lamp again, sending it crashing to the floor. She winced at the noise.

"Okay, new plan." She grabbed her phone and speed-dialed her friend Maya, a smart woman who ran the art supply shop downtown.

"Maya? It's urgent. My drawings are coming alive."

"What? That's impossible," Maya's voice crackled through the speaker.

"Tell that to this butterfly!"

Just then, her giant crayon started glowing purple on its own. Without her touching it, the crayon began drawing in the air. A stick figure appeared, floating in her living room.

The stick figure waved at her.

Ms. Crayon Alligator dropped her phone. "Maya, I'll call you back."

She stared as more purple sparks shot from her crayon. Another drawing materialized – a simple house that immediately started floating toward her window.

"This is getting out of hand fast," she muttered, watching her creations multiply around the room.
