The Morning That Started Strange

Super Pencil Woman stretched her arms high above her head as morning sunlight streamed through the tall windows of her fortress. The four pencil towers cast long shadows across Canvas Metropolis below, where deer-headed shopkeepers were already opening their art supply stores.

"Time to practice my drawing blasts," she said, pulling her giant blue pencil from its special holder on the wall.

She aimed at the practice target across the room and concentrated. Usually, brilliant blue energy would shoot from the pencil's tip, creating perfect circles and stars. But today, nothing happened.

She frowned and tried again, gripping the pencil tighter. Still nothing.

"That's weird," she muttered, examining the pencil carefully. It looked exactly the same as always—gleaming blue with silver trim.

Her phone buzzed with a message from the mayor: "Emergency! All the paintings in the museum have gone completely blank overnight. Please help!"

Super Pencil Woman's eyes widened. Something very strange was happening in Canvas Metropolis.

The Fading Feathers

Super Pencil Woman flew through the morning air toward Canvas Metropolis Museum, her red cape streaming behind her. The giant blue pencil felt heavy and lifeless in her grip.

She landed outside the museum where Mayor Brushwood, a tall sheep with curly white wool, paced nervously on the steps.

"Thank goodness you're here!" he bleated. "It's not just the paintings—look!"

Inside, Super Pencil Woman gasped. Every canvas hung blank and white. But worse, a small hummingbird fluttered frantically near the entrance, its bright green feathers flickering like a dying lightbulb.

"The artists are losing their colors too," Mayor Brushwood whispered. "Ruby here used to paint the most beautiful flower murals with her beak."

The hummingbird chirped weakly and landed on Super Pencil Woman's silver glove. Up close, she could see Ruby's feathers growing pale around the edges.

"It started at midnight," the mayor continued. "First the museum paintings went white, then Ruby began fading. Three other artist animals in the city are showing the same symptoms."

Super Pencil Woman's stomach dropped. If artists were losing their colors, and her pencil wouldn't work, something was draining all creativity from Canvas Metropolis.
