Morning Routine

Ms. Pencil Axolotl stretched her arms wide as morning sunlight streamed through the windows of Pencil Axolotl Tower. Her blue and black supersuit shimmered in the golden light. She loved starting each day by looking out over Draw Metropolis from her home at the tower's top floor.

"Another beautiful day to protect the city," she said to herself, adjusting her grey mask.

Outside her window, the city bustled with life. Humanoid deer hurried to work with briefcases. Human families walked their pet dogs. Axolotl couples shared coffee at sidewalk cafes. Everything looked perfectly normal and colorful.

She summoned her giant blue glowing pencil, watching it float beside her as she got ready for patrol. The pencil pulsed with a gentle blue light that matched her suit's blue stripes.

Ms. Pencil Axolotl grabbed her phone to check the morning news. The screen showed cheerful headlines about the city's art festival next week. She smiled, putting the phone in her suit's pocket.

"Time for morning patrol," she announced to her empty apartment.

The Grey Morning

Ms. Pencil Axolotl stepped outside Pencil Axolotl Tower and froze. Something was terribly wrong.

Her blue supersuit had turned completely grey. She looked down at herself in shock, touching the fabric that should have been her signature blue and black.

"What happened to my suit?" she whispered.

She tried to summon her giant blue glowing pencil, but instead of its usual brilliant blue light, it flickered weakly with a dull grey glow before disappearing entirely.

All around Draw Metropolis, people were pointing and gasping. The beautiful blue sky had turned an ugly grey. The blue awnings on shops were now colorless. Even the blue flowers in the park looked like faded photographs.

A humanoid deer woman with short brown hair hurried past, carrying a grey purse that should have been blue. She wore a grey sweater and dark pants, her brown eyes wide with worry.

"Excuse me," Ms. Pencil Axolotl called to her. "Did you notice when this happened?"

"About ten minutes ago," the deer woman replied, stopping. "All the blue just vanished! My daughter's blue backpack, the blue street signs, everything!"

Ms. Pencil Axolotl felt her powers weakening. Without blue, something fundamental was missing from Draw Metropolis.
