Watching From Above

Darragh floated in the outer court of the fifteenth dimension, his star-speckled cloak rippling like cosmic wind. His many golden eyes gazed downward through layers of reality, watching the small blue planet spinning far below.

"Another storm brewing over the Pacific," he murmured, his deep voice echoing softly through the dimensional space. The hurricane was massive, spinning toward populated coastlines where millions of humans lived their brief, precious lives.

His tentacle-like appendages drifted gently around him as he considered his options. One small adjustment to the atmospheric pressure, just a tiny nudge to redirect the storm's path, and thousands would be saved. No one would ever know.

Other beings in the court whispered of glory, of being worshipped by mortals. They craved recognition for their cosmic powers. But Darragh had seen empires crumble under the weight of pride. Even gods could fall when they forgot humility.

He reached out with his consciousness, feeling the storm's wild energy. The humans below had no idea what was coming—or what he was about to do to protect them.

The Sparrow's Warning

With a gentle touch that rippled across dimensions, Darragh shifted the hurricane's path. The massive storm curved away from the coastlines, heading harmlessly into open ocean. Thousands of lives saved, and no one would ever know.

He was about to drift back into the cosmic currents when a small sparrow appeared beside him, its brown feathers somehow existing in this impossible space between realities.

"You did it again, didn't you?" the sparrow chirped, perching on one of his floating tentacles. "Another secret rescue."

Darragh's golden eyes blinked in surprise. "Pip? How did you get here?"

The sparrow ruffled her wings. "I've been watching Earth too. The humans down there are starting to notice patterns. Weather that changes too perfectly, disasters that mysteriously avoid populated areas." She tilted her small head. "Some of them are calling it divine intervention."

Darragh's star-speckled cloak rippled with unease. "They cannot know."

"But they're beginning to suspect something watches over them," Pip continued. "I heard prayers today. Prayers to an unnamed guardian."

Below them, Earth continued spinning, unaware that its protector was starting to worry.
