The Blank Page Emergency

The Door That Clicked Twice
Crayon Red Castle shone like a new apple, four crayon towers pointed at the sky. Crayon Red Riding Hood hovered near the courtyard wall, finishing a mural of a smiling cow astronaut.
Her wrist communicator chirped. Then chirped again.
“Hold on,” she muttered, pressing a button with a red glove. “No emergencies during finishing touches.”
A humanoid deer in a green sash hurried across the tiles, hooves clacking.
“Mayor Antler?” she asked. “Why are you speed-walking in my paint zone?”
He unrolled a photo. The picture showed a famous forest painting—except it was just a white rectangle.
“It happened overnight,” he said. “Galleries. Shop signs. Even my campaign poster.”
She pulled out her phone and scrolled the forest art feed. Post after post: blank.
Her cape snapped as she grabbed her giant magic crayon. “Nearest gallery is Cedar Frame. I’m going.”
As she blasted through the main door, the lock clicked… then clicked again
Double-Click, Double Trouble
The double-click echoed in Crayon Red Riding Hood’s ears as she shot across the path to Cedar Frame Gallery.
Inside, frames lined the walls like a neat row of TV screens—except every “screen” was plain white. Wet streaks slid down the glass.
A brown-furred beaver in a yellow safety vest dangled from a window-washing harness. He blinked at her with small dark eyes.
“Uh, superhero kid,” he said. “My name is Brix. I was cleaning the front windows. The paintings… melted.”
He thrust his phone out. A warning banner flashed: ERASE WAVE—DO NOT PLAY LOUD AUDIO.
“Audio?” she said, and her wrist communicator buzzed like a nervous bug.
A motorized paint-roller drone smashed through the side door. It sprayed a clear mist. On her phone screen, the photo of her cow astronaut mural turned pale, then white.
“Nope!” she snapped.
She pressed her giant magic crayon to a blank canvas and drew a red star. The star faded like breath on a mirror.
The drone swivelled toward a wall speaker and forced it on. A thin, squeaky tone cut the air. Frames rattled.
Brix covered his ears.
She grabbed his vest and sprinted after the rolling drone as it darted into the back hall
