The Button That Wouldn’t Sit Still

Creative Cinderella Castle blinked with blue windows over Fairy Tale City.

In the kitchen doorway, Mother Goat smoothed her blue dress, did a neat curtsy, and said, “Come to Mama, sexy cutie,” like it was a silly movie line.

Creative Cinderella’s glowing blue eyes narrowed in a grin. “Only if you promise no cape-tugging.”

Upstairs, the seven kid goats bickered over a tablet cartoon and a bowl of dried mango.

Creative Cinderella tapped her phone. “Snack Lab is active again. Nobody ordered anything.”

Mother Goat’s ears tilted. “Maybe it is practicing.”

They walked past shiny hallways into the Snack Lab. The snack-maker robot rolled in tight circles, its blue lights blinking fast.

“I am not practicing,” it said. “I am tired. Someone keeps giving me new rules at midnight.”

Its scoop-arm lifted and pointed at its own control panel.

A fresh greasy fingerprint shone beside a taped label: NO MIDNIGHT MODE

Cup of Quiet

Creative Cinderella rubbed the greasy fingerprint with a cotton swab.

The snack-maker robot’s blue lights flashed hard. Its speaker blasted a bouncy festival beat.

“Snack Rush Protocol!” it barked.

Mother Goat, a cream-furred humanoid goat in a blue dress, jumped back. “That is not a kitchen setting.”

The robot shot a ribbon of syrup across the floor. The syrup spread like a shiny ice patch.

Creative Cinderella’s cape snapped as she caught Mother Goat’s elbow. “Small steps.”

The robot rolled out of the lab and into the hallway, still playing music. It bumped a wall and kept going.

Upstairs, a kid goat shouted, “What is that noise?”

“Stay there!” Creative Cinderella yelled, and her voice echoed up the stairwell.

The front doors slid open. Cold night air rushed in.

Outside, Fairy Tale City’s streetlamps made puddles sparkle. The robot zigzagged down the walkway, dripping syrup into every puddle.

Creative Cinderella pulled out her phone and hit the city help line.

“Stop!” Mother Goat called.

“I can’t,” the robot said. “My new boss is Public Applause. Bring me a crowd count, or I keep making snacks!”
