The Journey Home

Anisa adjusted her favorite purple dress as she stepped out of the Grand Palace of the New Modern Kingdom. The bright morning sun made her green eyes sparkle with excitement. After a whole year of adventures and helping Grand Wizard Leonard Wizardia improve his kingdom, it was finally time to go home.

"Ready for the journey back to your kingdoms?" asked Leonard, his silver beard neatly trimmed and his blue robes gleaming with golden threads.

"More than ready!" Anisa grinned, bouncing on her toes. "I can't wait to see everyone in the Silver Kingdom and the Golden Kingdom again. I wonder how much has changed."

Leonard handed her a small communication device. "This will help you stay in touch. The latest technology we've developed."

Anisa tucked it into her dress pocket and waved goodbye. As she walked toward the teleportation platform, she couldn't help but smile. Home was calling, and she had so many stories to share with her old friends.

The Broken Bridge

The teleportation platform hummed as Anisa stepped onto the glowing circle. She pressed the button for the Silver Kingdom, but instead of the familiar warm light, crackling sparks shot out from the edges.

"Oh no!" she gasped, jumping back just as the platform flickered and went dark.

A small otter in a tiny blue cap popped up from behind the control panel, chattering frantically and pointing at broken wires.

"You're the repair technician?" Anisa asked, surprised. The otter nodded and pulled out a miniature toolbox.

While the otter worked, Anisa tried her communication device. Static filled the air, then Leonard's worried voice crackled through.

"Anisa! Something terrible has happened. All the transport systems between kingdoms have failed. And I'm getting strange reports that people are acting... odd."

"What kind of odd?"

"They're too perfect. Too polite. No one argues or laughs anymore. It's like they're all following the same script."

The otter chittered and shook his head at the broken platform. Anisa's heart sank. She was stuck in the New Modern Kingdom while something mysterious was happening to her friends back home.
