The Melody Garden

Merlin pushed through the heavy glass doors of the Gargantuan Greenhouse. Warm, humid air wrapped around him like a gentle hug. Sunlight streamed through the cracked glass ceiling, creating dancing patterns on the overgrown path ahead.

He had heard rumors about this place. Kids at school whispered about strange sounds coming from inside. Most were too scared to investigate, but Merlin's curiosity always got the better of him.

The path wound between towering plants with leaves bigger than dinner plates. Vines hung like green curtains from the metal framework above. Some flowers glowed with a soft purple light, casting eerie shadows on the walls.

Then he heard it—a soft humming melody drifting from deeper inside the greenhouse. The sound seemed to come from the plants themselves, sweet and haunting at the same time.

Merlin adjusted his pointed hat and gripped his wand tighter. Whatever was making that music, he was going to find it.

Merlin followed the haunting melody deeper into the greenhouse. The humming grew stronger as he passed glowing orchids and vines that seemed to sway without any breeze.

He rounded a corner and stopped. Three enormous sunflowers stood in a circle, their faces turned toward each other. Their petals moved like lips, creating the beautiful song he'd been hearing.

"Amazing," Merlin whispered, stepping closer.

Suddenly, heavy footsteps echoed behind him. Merlin spun around to see a tall elderly woman in a flour-dusted apron hurrying toward him. Her gray hair was pulled back in a messy bun, and her kind brown eyes looked worried.

"Child, you shouldn't be here!" she called out, waving her hands. "The greenhouse isn't safe after sunset!"

Before Merlin could ask why, dark shadows swept down from the metal beams overhead. The woman gasped and pushed Merlin behind a large planter. But the shadows moved too quickly.

Strong arms grabbed Merlin from behind. His pointed hat tumbled to the ground as everything went black.

When he opened his eyes, he was lying on a cold metal floor in a room filled with strange humming machines.
