The Notice on the Wall
Megan pushed her red glasses up her nose as she walked through the hallway of Willow Tree School. Her blonde pigtails bounced with each step, and the tiny cat on her red dress pocket seemed to smile along with her.
"Did you see the notice?" Lucy van Pelt called out, waving a bright yellow paper. "Haircut day is next Friday!"
Charlie Brown's face went completely white. He dropped his books right there in the middle of the hallway.
"Miss Diamond is coming?" he whispered.
"Of course Miss Diamond is coming," Lucy said, rolling her eyes. "She's the school hairdresser."
Charlie Brown sat down on the floor, looking like he might be sick. "She's going to make me look weird. What if Vivian sees me and thinks I look terrible?"
Megan watched Charlie Brown's worried face. She had never seen him this scared before, not even when he had to give presentations.
The Red Envelope
Linus van Pelt appeared around the corner, clutching his security blanket. He saw Charlie Brown sitting on the floor and Megan standing nearby.
"What happened to him?" Linus asked, pointing at his friend.
"Miss Diamond is coming for haircut day," Megan explained. "Charlie Brown thinks she'll make him look terrible."
Linus sat down next to Charlie Brown. "Remember when she cut my hair last year? I thought I looked like a porcupine."
"You did look like a porcupine," Charlie Brown said miserably.
Just then, Snoopy trotted down the hallway with a red envelope in his mouth. He dropped it right in front of Charlie Brown.
"What's this?" Megan picked up the envelope. Inside was a note written in fancy handwriting: "Dear Students, I have new gentle scissors this year! No more scary haircuts! - Miss Diamond"
Charlie Brown's eyes grew wide. "She wrote this?"
Snoopy wagged his tail and barked once.
"Maybe she's not as scary as we thought," Linus said, adjusting his blanket.
But Charlie Brown shook his head. "What if she's just saying that to trick us?"
