Pink Hair, Big Dreams
Listen to audiobook
The Colorful Corner
Felix walked down Chapel Street, his blonde hair catching the Melbourne sun. The alien and mushroom design on his T-shirt seemed to glow against the vibrant street art covering the walls. His mushroom ring caught the light as he adjusted his fingerless gloves.
"There it is," he muttered, pointing at the bright pink salon ahead.
Miss Lolly's Hair Haven sparkled like a candy store. Pink neon signs blinked in the windows, and through the glass, Felix could see a woman with cotton-candy pink hair styling someone's locks. Her Sanrio-themed apron was covered in tiny Hello Kitty faces.
"She's so... pink," Vic said, pushing his glasses up his nose. His blue hair stuck out at odd angles despite his attempts to flatten it.
Nat pulled his black hoodie lower, hiding the vitiligo patches on his neck. "I heard she uses those clippers on everyone."
Felix shuddered. "Devil machines."
The four boys from The Buzz Kills band stood frozen on the sidewalk, watching the cheerful salon like it was a haunted house.
The Video That Changed Everything
Adam kicked a bottle cap down the street. His strawberry blonde hair caught the afternoon breeze as he shrugged. "Who cares about some pink lady anyway?"
"We should just go," Vic whispered, adjusting his glasses nervously.
But Felix couldn't move. Through the salon window, he watched Miss Lolly pick up her electric clippers. The buzzing sound drifted out to the sidewalk, making all four boys freeze.
"She's using them on that kid!" Nat pointed with a shaking finger.
Inside, a young boy sat calmly in the chair while Miss Lolly trimmed his hair with gentle, precise movements. The Gyaru girls—Yasmin, Jasmine, Anastasia, and Alani—watched from nearby chairs, chatting and laughing.
Felix pulled out his phone and started recording. "This is it, guys. Proof that she's torturing people with those devil machines."
The video captured Miss Lolly's bright smile as she worked, but Felix only saw the clippers in her hands. He posted it immediately to their band's social media with the caption: "Hair Haven = Hair Hell. Stay away!"
Within minutes, his phone buzzed with likes and shares.
