The Fourth Time

Sea Monster Cookie sat on her favorite frosting boulder, watching the sugar dust settle in the afternoon light. Her black and turquoise sword rested against her knee, its seafoam sparkles dim in the shadows.

"They left again," she whispered to herself, tracing the sword's handle with her finger.

The Cookie Kingdom's candy-paved streets buzzed with activity below. Gingerbread merchants called out their wares while marshmallow children played hopscotch on licorice lines. But Sea Monster Cookie only had eyes for the distant gate where her four warrior friends had disappeared hours ago.

Shallow Milk Cookie, Cookie Beast, Cookie, and Pure Vanilla Cookie - the legendary warriors everyone talked about. Everyone except her.

"The fourth time," she said, her voice getting sharper. "They promised this time would be different."

Her teeth felt strange, tingling at the edges. The sword's sparkles began to glow brighter as her grip tightened. Something was happening to her smile - something that made her reflection in the blade look almost... frightening.

The Message That Changes Everything

A young baker cookie with flour-dusted apron came running up the frosting path, her oven mitts flapping as she waved a crumpled parchment.

"Sea Monster Cookie! Sea Monster Cookie!" she called out, breathless. "This just came for you!"

Sea Monster Cookie looked up from her boulder, her grip still tight on her sword. The baker's eyes were wide with worry.

"It's from the Enchanted Islands," the baker said, thrusting the message forward. "The messenger seagull said it was urgent."

Sea Monster Cookie's hands trembled as she unfolded the parchment. The words made her blood turn cold:

"Warriors captured by Shadow Beast on Nightmare Island. Send help immediately. Time running short. - Captain Biscuit"

The sword's sparkles flared bright turquoise. Sea Monster Cookie's teeth grew sharper, and her smile stretched wide and frightening. The baker stepped back in fear.

"They're in trouble," Sea Monster Cookie said, her voice deeper now, more menacing. "And they went without me again."

She stood up, sword gleaming. "Well, they're about to see exactly what they left behind."
