Sleeping Bags and Starlight

Mariza carefully arranged her sleeping bag next to Wendy's on the bedroom floor. The blue flame in her palm cast dancing shadows on the walls as she dimmed it to barely a flicker.

"Your fire power is so cool," Wendy whispered, pulling her blanket up to her chin. "Does it ever burn you?"

"Never," Mariza said, closing her palm to extinguish the flame completely. "It feels warm, like holding sunshine."

Wendy giggled softly. "I wish I could do magic like you."

Through the open window, a soft green light began to glow. Mariza sat up, her green eyes scanning the darkness outside. Something was moving in the garden below.

"Do you see that?" she asked, pointing toward the window.

Before Wendy could answer, a boy with messy red hair and pointed ears floated right through the glass. He wore green clothes that looked like they were made from leaves, and his feet never touched the ground.

"Peter Pan!" Wendy gasped, sitting up quickly.

The boy grinned widely. "Ready for an adventure, Wendy Darling?"

The Jealous Light

Peter Pan sprinkled golden dust over their heads. "Just think happy thoughts!"

Mariza felt her feet leave the ground first. The blue flame in her palm flickered with excitement as she floated beside Wendy, who was giggling and spinning in the air.

"This is incredible!" Wendy laughed, her nightgown billowing around her.

Through the window they soared, over London's rooftops and chimney tops. The city lights twinkled below like scattered stars. Peter Pan led them higher, past clouds that felt like cool cotton against their faces.

"Second star to the right, and straight on till morning!" Peter called out.

But as they flew, a tiny golden light zipped angrily around Wendy's head. The light grew brighter, revealing a small fairy with blonde hair and a green dress.

"That's Tinker Bell," Peter explained. "She's a bit jealous."

Tinker Bell's tiny face was twisted with fury. She darted at Wendy, her sharp voice chiming like broken bells. Without warning, the fairy grabbed a handful of pebbles from a passing cloud and hurled them straight at Wendy's head.

"Hey!" Mariza shot forward, her blue flame blazing brighter as she knocked the stones away with her free hand.
