The Cathedral's Secret Door
Listen to audiobook
The Morning Prayer
Sofia peeked around the massive stone pillar of Notre Dame Cathedral. Her golden braids swayed as she watched her stepmother India kneel before the altar.
"Please keep my children safe," India whispered, her hands folded tightly. "Sofia, Romeo, Giulietta... and the baby Philip who will come soon."
The cathedral's colored windows painted rainbow patterns across the floor. Sofia's green eyes sparkled with curiosity. She had followed India here from their home near the bustling markets of Paris.
India's voice echoed softly in the vast space. "I need wisdom to be a good mother to them all."
Sofia took a quiet step forward. The ancient stones seemed to hum with secrets.
The Water God's Warning
Suddenly, a brilliant flash filled the cathedral. Sofia gasped and ducked behind the pillar as water began pouring from nowhere, creating puddles on the stone floor.
A tall man with a flowing blue beard appeared before India. His eyes sparkled like ocean waves, and he held a golden trident.
"I am Poseidon," he said in a voice like rolling waves. "Your prayers have reached me."
India stared in amazement. "A god? Here?"
"You seek wisdom for your children," Poseidon continued. "But danger comes. You must find Joan of Arc before the next full moon, or your family will be trapped in an eternal musical performance."
Sofia's heart pounded. She had to help her stepmother.
