Pink Invasion

Felix adjusted his alien T-shirt and checked his mushroom ring one more time. The midday Melbourne sun beat down on the cobblestones as he walked with his bandmates toward their usual hangout spot behind the old record store.

"Did you guys see what happened to Collins Street?" Vic pushed his blue hair out of his eyes, his braces catching the light.

Nat nodded, covering a patch of vitiligo on his neck with his fishnet gloves. "That new salon opened. Pink everywhere."

"Miss Lolly's Hair Haven," Adam said, strawberry blonde hair messy as always. "The Gyaru girls won't shut up about it."

Felix's stomach twisted. He'd heard the whispers at school. Yasmin and her friends giggling about the new hairstylist with her magical touch. But Felix knew the truth about hair salons. He'd seen the torture devices they used.

"She's got clippers," Felix muttered, his brown eyes darting toward the street. "Electric ones."

The four boys exchanged knowing looks. The Buzz Kills had formed for one reason - to stay far away from anything involving hair cutting.

Pink Terror at the Festival

The next morning, Felix's phone buzzed with a text from his mom. "Emergency at the music festival! Sound equipment broke down. Need The Buzz Kills to perform in an hour!"

Felix's eyes widened. The Melbourne Spring Music Festival was huge. Hundreds of people would be there, including all the Gyaru girls from school.

"Guys, we're performing at the festival!" Felix called Vic, Nat, and Adam.

Within thirty minutes, they stood backstage with their instruments. Felix peeked through the curtain and his stomach dropped. There, right in front of the stage, sat Miss Lolly's bright pink hair salon booth. A sign read "Free Festival Makeovers!"

Miss Lolly herself stood behind the booth, her pink hair shining in the sunlight. She wore a Hello Kitty shirt and had the biggest smile Felix had ever seen. Worse yet, she was holding electric clippers.

"Felix, you're pale," Vic whispered, adjusting his glasses.

"She's here," Felix pointed at the salon booth. "With clippers."

Yasmin and her friends were already lined up at Miss Lolly's booth, chatting excitedly about getting their hair styled for the festival.
