The Salon on Chapel Street
Felix tugged his fingerless gloves tighter as he walked down Chapel Street with his bandmates. The Melbourne afternoon buzzed around them—trams clanging, people chatting, street art splashing color across brick walls.
"There it is," Vic muttered, adjusting his glasses. His blue hair caught the sunlight as he pointed ahead.
Miss Lolly's Hair Salon stood between a coffee shop and a vintage clothing store. Pink neon letters spelled out the name, and through the large windows, Felix could see her inside—tan skin glowing under the bright lights, pink hair bouncing as she moved around a client.
"Look at all those clippers," Adam whispered, his strawberry blonde hair falling into his eyes. "They're everywhere."
Felix's stomach twisted. The chrome tools gleamed menacingly on the counter, their sharp teeth waiting. He touched his blonde hair protectively—it reached his middle back, and he loved every strand.
"The Gyarus are in there again," Nat observed, covering a patch of vitiligo on his wrist.
Pink Tears and Lamppost Secrets
Through the window, Felix watched Yasmin flip her dark hair as she laughed at something Miss Lolly said. Jasmine and Anastasia giggled too, their colorful outfits bright against the salon's pink walls. Alani nodded enthusiastically as Miss Lolly held up different hair accessories.
"They actually like going in there," Mason said, shaking his head. His twin brother Nathan made a disgusted face.
Suddenly, Yasmin burst through the salon door, tears streaming down her cheeks. The other Gyarus rushed after her, their usual cheerful energy gone.
"What's wrong?" Jasmine called out, but Yasmin was already running down the street.
Felix exchanged glances with his bandmates. Something was definitely wrong.
Miss Lolly appeared in the doorway, her pink hair disheveled and her usual bright smile replaced with worry. She looked around frantically, then spotted a flyer taped to a nearby lamppost. Her face went pale as she read it.
"The Annual Melbourne Hair Competition," she whispered to herself. "Two weeks to save the salon."
Adam stepped closer, squinting at the small print. "What does that mean?"
Miss Lolly's shoulders slumped. "If I don't win first place, I lose everything."
