A Morning Like Any Other

Ms. Crayon Axolotl stretched her arms as the morning sun peeked through the crystal windows of her castle. The light scattered into rainbow patterns across her bedroom walls, painting everything in cheerful colors.

She slipped into her blue and black supersuit and adjusted her purple mask in the mirror. Her frilly gills fluttered as she yawned.

"Another peaceful day in Art Zoo City," she said to herself, pulling on her purple gloves.

From her window, she could see the bustling streets below. Artists painted murals on building walls while children played with sidewalk chalk. The morning market buzzed with vendors selling colorful fruits and handmade crafts.

Ms. Crayon grabbed her giant magic crayon from its special stand. The weapon glowed softly in her hands, always ready for action.

She flew out her window to begin her morning patrol, unaware that something strange was already stirring in the city's quietest corners.

The Gray Creep

Ms. Crayon Axolotl soared over the marketplace when she spotted something alarming. The bright red apples at Maria's fruit stand were turning gray before her eyes.

"What's happening to my apples?" Maria called out, her dark ponytail swinging as she turned to examine her produce.

Ms. Crayon landed beside the fruit stand. The grayness spread like spilled water, draining color from bananas, oranges, and strawberries.

"Stay back," Ms. Crayon warned, pulling out her giant magic crayon. But when she tried to blast the grayness away with a crayon beam, nothing happened. The magic bounced off like it hit a wall.

More vendors started shouting. The colorful awnings above their stalls were fading to dull gray. Children's chalk drawings on the sidewalk turned pale and lifeless.

A small hummingbird zipped past Ms. Crayon's head, its brilliant green feathers now completely colorless.

"The whole city's losing its color!" Maria gasped.

Ms. Crayon's heart pounded. Her crayon powers weren't working against whatever was causing this. She watched helplessly as the grayness crept toward the fountain in the center of the square.
