Morning at the Castle

Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl stretched her pink arms as the first rays of sunlight streamed through the tall windows of her castle bedroom. Her frilly gills fluttered softly as she yawned and rubbed her large dark eyes.

"Another beautiful morning in Art Gallery Metropolis," she said, adjusting her blue mask. She walked to the window and gazed out at the bustling city below. Humans and animal citizens were already starting their day, walking past colorful murals and sculptures that lined every street.

Her phone buzzed on the nightstand. A text from Mayor Thompson: "Emergency city council meeting at 9 AM. Strange reports coming in from downtown."

Ms. Paintbrush frowned. She had planned to spend the morning practicing her paintbrush techniques in the tower studio. Her giant magic paintbrush leaned against the wall, its surface shimmering with stored creative energy.

She quickly pulled on her blue and black dress and grabbed her paintbrush. Whatever was happening downtown, Art Gallery Metropolis might need its protector.

The Morning Gathering

Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl flew through the crisp morning air toward City Hall, her giant magic paintbrush gleaming in the sunlight. Below her, something caught her attention. The bright yellow sunflowers in Mrs. Chen's garden looked... pale. Almost gray.

She landed softly on the marble steps of City Hall, where Mayor Thompson waited. He was a tall man with graying brown hair and worried green eyes, wearing his usual navy suit.

"Thank goodness you're here," he said, adjusting his glasses. "We have a serious problem."

"What kind of problem?" Ms. Paintbrush asked, following him inside.

"Colors are disappearing," Mayor Thompson said. "First it was the red roses in Central Park this morning. Now Mrs. Chen called about her sunflowers turning gray. And look at this."

He held up a children's crayon box from his desk. Half the crayons inside were completely colorless, like white sticks.

"Someone is stealing colors from our city," he continued. "The Art Council is meeting now. They're calling this person the Color Thief."

Ms. Paintbrush gripped her paintbrush tighter. Art Gallery Metropolis without colors would be devastating.
