Morning Patrol
Super Marker Lion stood at the top of his gleaming tower, watching Creative Pride City wake up below. The morning sun painted golden streaks across the buildings where humans and lions lived side by side.
"Another peaceful day," he said, adjusting his red cape as it fluttered in the breeze. His giant magic marker glowed softly in his hand.
Down on Painter's Boulevard, Mrs. Chen was opening her art supply shop. She waved up at him with a bright smile. The flower vendor next door, a cheerful lion named Bruno, arranged his colorful bouquets.
Super Marker Lion loved these quiet moments before the city came fully alive. Children would soon head to school, artists would begin their work, and the whole place would buzz with creative energy.
He stepped to the edge of his tower platform, ready to start his morning patrol. Everything looked normal and bright.
But something felt different today. He couldn't quite put his finger on it.
The Gray Morning
Super Marker Lion soared down from his tower, landing gracefully on Painter's Boulevard. He wanted to check on Mrs. Chen and Bruno before starting his patrol.
"Good morning!" he called out, walking toward the art supply shop.
Mrs. Chen looked up from arranging paintbrushes, but something was wrong. Her face looked pale and worried. "Oh, Super Marker Lion! Thank goodness you're here."
"What's the matter?" he asked, noticing her hands shaking slightly.
"It's the strangest thing," she said, pointing to her shop window. "Look at my paint display."
Super Marker Lion stepped closer and gasped. Half the paint tubes that should have been bright red, blue, and yellow were now completely gray. Not faded—gray, as if the color had been drained right out of them.
"When did this happen?" he asked.
"I just noticed it this morning when I opened up," Mrs. Chen replied. "And Bruno's flowers..." She pointed next door.
Super Marker Lion turned to see Bruno the lion staring sadly at his flower cart. Beautiful roses and daisies that should have been vibrant were turning gray before their eyes.
"The colors are disappearing," Bruno said quietly. "What could be causing this?"
