Morning Patrol

Paintbrush Lioness stretched her powerful arms as the morning sun painted the sky orange above Canvas Savannah City. Her golden fur gleamed beneath her black and blue supersuit, and her purple mask sat perfectly across her feline features.

She stepped onto the balcony of Paintbrush Fortress, her home rising high above the bustling city. The four paintbrush towers sparkled in the early light, casting long shadows across the streets below where humans and humanoid lions hurried to work.

"Another beautiful day," she said, summoning her giant paintbrush with a flash of her hand.

But something felt different today. The colors around her seemed less vibrant than usual. The red roses in the garden looked duller. The blue sky appeared slightly gray at the edges.

She shook her head. "Must be my imagination."

With a powerful leap, she launched herself into the air, her cape flowing behind her as she began her morning patrol over the city she loved to protect.

The Shoemaker's Warning

Flying over the market district, Paintbrush Lioness spotted something alarming below. The bright yellow awnings of the fruit stands had turned a sickly pale cream. The green vegetables looked almost gray.

She landed near a small shoe repair shop where an elderly human woman with short silver hair was hammering nails into a boot sole. The woman looked up, her brown eyes filled with worry.

"Paintbrush Lioness! Thank goodness you're here," the shoemaker said, setting down her hammer. "Something terrible is happening. My beautiful red leather turned brown this morning. My blue thread became gray right before my eyes!"

Paintbrush Lioness knelt beside the workbench. Sure enough, what should have been bright crimson boots were now a dull brown color.

"When did this start?" she asked.

"About an hour ago. It's spreading through the whole district. Mrs. Chen's flower shop lost all its colors first, then it moved to the bakery next door."

A chill ran down the lioness's spine. This wasn't her imagination after all. Someone was stealing the colors from Canvas Savannah City.
