The Costume Crisis

Backstage Secrets
Jeanie loved the dusty corners of Peacock Theater's backstage area. Old props and forgotten costume pieces created magical hiding spots where she could dream about the stories that had unfolded here.
"The dresses look perfect," she whispered to herself, admiring the beautiful costumes hanging on the rack. The sequins sparkled even in the dim light.
Her phone buzzed. A text from her friend Anna: "Can't wait for tonight's show!"
Jeanie smiled and tucked her phone away. She had promised to clean all the costumes yesterday, but she had gotten distracted watching her favorite series instead. The dresses still had dust and wrinkles from last week's performance.
Heavy footsteps echoed from the hallway. Jeanie's heart skipped as she recognized the sound.
The Cricket's Arrival
The footsteps belonged to Candy, the lead actor. Her red curls bounced as she marched toward the costume rack.
"Jeanie!" Candy's voice echoed through the backstage area. "These dresses are still dirty!"
Jeanie's stomach dropped. Candy held up a beautiful blue gown covered in dust spots.
"The show starts in three hours," Candy continued, her green eyes flashing. "How could you forget?"
A small brown cricket hopped onto Jeanie's shoulder, chirping softly. She had noticed the tiny insect yesterday but hadn't thought much about it.
"I'm sorry," Jeanie whispered, watching Candy examine dress after dress. Each one needed cleaning.
"Sorry won't fix this mess," Candy said, shaking her head.
