Morning Rounds at the Castle

info-banner

Drawing Beauty floated three feet off the ground as she glided through the morning mist surrounding Drawing Castle. Her purple cape fluttered behind her while she checked each tower like she did every day.

"Good morning, Crayon Tower!" she called out, waving at the spiral structure that gleamed orange and yellow in the sunrise. She drifted past the Marker Tower, its silver walls reflecting rainbows, then sailed around the Pen Tower with its elegant black spire.

As she approached the Pencil Tower, something felt different. The usually bustling sound of artists working was missing. Drawing Beauty landed softly on the tower's balcony and peered through the window.

"That's weird," she whispered to herself. The art supply shelves looked emptier than usual. Several boxes of colored pencils were gone from their spots.

A tiny blue mark caught her eye on the windowsill. She bent closer to examine the strange waxy smudge.

The Yellow Hard Hat Chase

Drawing Beauty scraped at the blue waxy mark with her fingernail. The smudge came off easily, revealing fresh scratches underneath.

"Someone was here recently," she murmured, examining the tiny blue flakes on her glove.

A loud crash echoed from the Marker Tower across the courtyard. Drawing Beauty spun around to see a figure in overalls scrambling down the tower's exterior wall, clutching a bulging mail sack.

"Hey! Stop right there!" Drawing Beauty called out, launching herself into the air with her gravity powers.

The figure looked back - it was an otter wearing a bright yellow hard hat and construction boots. His whiskers twitched nervously as he spotted the approaching superhero.

"Sorry! Emergency delivery!" the otter squeaked, sliding down a drainpipe with surprising agility.

Drawing Beauty swooped lower, but the otter had already reached the ground. He sprinted toward the castle's mail room, his sack bouncing wildly behind him.

"Wait! What kind of delivery?" Drawing Beauty shouted, but the otter had already disappeared through the mail room's swinging doors.

She landed softly outside the building, hearing muffled sounds of boxes being moved around inside.
