Switches and Scribbles

The Fantastic Crayon Dome shined like a clean bubble, with four crayon towers poking up like bright candles.

Fantastic Crayon Doe floated down into the central bay, boots tapping the metal floor. Her phone was propped on a tool cart, streaming.

“Checklist time,” she said, peeking at the screen. “Crayon: summoned. Cape: none. Good choice.”

A tall deer in a lab coat hurried over, tablet clutched tight.

“Doctor Sable Quill,” she said, “tell the chat I am being safe.”

He frowned at the console. “The new Safety Setting is still… beta.”

On the panel, a tiny toggle flashed between ON and ON.

Fantastic Crayon Doe rubbed her cream muzzle with a black glove. “It is fine. One doodle. A small one.”

She snapped her fingers. A giant, rainbow-glowing crayon popped into her hand, humming softly.

“Blank wall, gentle line,” Dr. Quill said.

The console beeped twice, like it changed its mind

The Off Switch That Wasn’t

The console beeped twice, like it changed its mind.

Fantastic Crayon Doe touched the practice wall with her giant crayon.

A “gentle line” shot out like a runaway marker. It scribbled a door shape, and the wall popped open with a whoosh.

Dr. Sable Quill, the tall, espresso-brown deer in a lab coat, grabbed his tablet. “That is not a door. That is—”

A bright blue mailbox drew itself into the air, clanged onto the floor, and slid straight through the new opening.

Fantastic Crayon Doe blinked at her phone. The livestream chat filled with screaming-face stickers.

“Nope!” She hooked an arm around Dr. Quill’s middle and blasted upward. The dome hatch irised open, and she shot into Canvas Forest Metropolis.

Below, the mailbox bounced across a rooftop garden and popped its little door.

Cardboard boxes thumped out—real ones, sealed, address labels already printed.

Fantastic Crayon Doe aimed at the mailbox. “Crayon blast!”

The beam hit.

A bigger mailbox sketched itself in the air, and it immediately started spitting boxes too.
