Quiet Floors

Mega Jack hovered beside Mega Tower Fortress, his teal boots inches from the balcony rail. Below, Meadow Utopia buzzed with scooter lanes, rooftop gardens, and horned neighbors waving up at him.

His phone pinged inside his glove.

“City Notice: New Babysitter Needed—Urgent,” the screen read.

Mega Jack squinted. “Not my job.” He slid the phone away and dropped through a hatch into the tower.

The wash room was quiet, all white tiles and towel warmers. He pressed two fingers to his teal mask.

“Buck mode,” he whispered.

In a blink, his suit stayed folded in a locker, and a tall humanoid buck stood in its place.

The door chimed.

“Jackie? We brought snacks!” called Maribel.

“And bubble soap!” said Nia.

Tessa giggled. “No hero talk today.”

Mega Jack’s ears flicked. “Perfect,” he said, as a second chime rang—this one from the tower lobby intercom: “Babysitter has arrived—sending him up now.”

The Wrong Doorbell

Maribel, the mother deer in a soft green wrap robe, tilted her head toward the intercom.

"Babysitter has arrived," it repeated.

Nia, the mother goat in a yellow hoodie, blinked. "That is not you… right?"

Mega Jack’s buck ears flicked. "Nope. I’m off duty." He reached for the bubble soap.

The wash room doorbell chimed again, sharper this time.

Tessa, the mother sheep in a cozy pink cardigan, shuffled to the door and opened it an inch.

A little delivery drone hovered there, white-and-orange with a single camera eye.

"Package drop," the drone said. Its thin arms lowered a box that read: CITY SITTER KIT.

Mega Jack stepped back. "Wrong floor."

The drone’s camera clicked.

"Face match complete," it said. "Welcome, new babysitter. Name: Jack—"

"No!" Mega Jack waved both hands. "I’m not—"

His phone buzzed inside his glove pocket.

SITTER APP: FIRST SHIFT. BRIGHT ANTLERS SCHOOL. CHECK IN IN 20 MINUTES.

The drone flashed a big floating timer in red.

"No-show will be reported to Meadow Utopia Services," it added.
