A Special Delivery

Skylar bounced down the front steps of Date Everything house, her white high heels clicking against the wooden boards. The house itself seemed to smile at her through its bright yellow shutters, as if it was genuinely happy to see her.

"Good morning, Date Everything!" she called out cheerfully, adjusting her college jacket. The house's front door actually wiggled in response, making a soft creaking sound that almost sounded like laughter.

A delivery truck rumbled up the cobblestone path, its engine puttering to a stop right in front of the gate. The driver hopped out, carrying a small pink package that seemed to shimmer in the morning sunlight.

"Package for Skylar!" he announced, checking his clipboard. "Something called a... Date-vi-ator?"

Skylar's bright blue eyes widened with excitement. She'd never ordered anything like that before. The package felt surprisingly warm in her hands, and when she shook it gently, something rattled inside like delicate glass.

"What could this be?" she whispered, staring at the mysterious pink box.

The Pink Problem

Skylar tore open the pink package right there on the front porch. Inside, nestled in soft tissue paper, lay a pair of magical pink glasses with delicate silver frames.

"The Dateviator!" she whispered, slipping them onto her nose.

The world transformed instantly. Through the pink lenses, she could see glowing hearts floating above people's heads - but something was terribly wrong. Every single heart she looked at was crossed out with a big red X.

She turned to look at Date Everything house, expecting to see a friendly golden heart. Instead, a massive red X covered the entire front door.

"Oh no," she gasped, pulling off the glasses. The house looked normal again, its yellow shutters bright and welcoming.

A sparrow landed on the porch railing, chirping cheerfully. Skylar put the glasses back on. Even the tiny bird had a crossed-out heart above its head.

"This can't be right," she said, her voice shaking. "The glasses are supposed to show me who's dateable, not who isn't!"

She looked down at her reflection in the front window. Above her own head floated a heart with the biggest, boldest red X of all.
