Dawn in Evenrune

Boulder stretched his massive arms as morning sunlight filtered through the trees surrounding Evenrune. Moss patches on his granite shoulders caught dewdrops that sparkled like tiny diamonds. The fifteen-foot rock golem had slept peacefully beside the village well, his gentle eyes opening to watch the sunrise.

"Good morning, Boulder!" called Maya, a cheerful eight-year-old girl with bright brown eyes and curly red hair tied in pigtails. She wore a yellow dress with flower patterns and carried a wooden bucket.

"Good morning, little one," Boulder rumbled, his voice deep but warm. "Drawing water for your family?"

Maya nodded, then her smile faded. "Boulder, something strange happened last night. I tried to draw pictures before bed, but I couldn't think of anything. My mind felt... empty."

Boulder's sparkling eyes dimmed with concern. He had noticed the village children seemed quieter lately, less playful.

"Tell me more," he said gently, kneeling down to her level.

The Silver Messenger

Maya's eyes filled with tears. "It's not just me, Boulder. Yesterday, my little brother couldn't build with his blocks. He just stared at them like he'd forgotten what they were for."

Boulder's massive hand gently patted her shoulder. "Show me where the other children are."

They walked through Evenrune's cobblestone streets. Children sat on doorsteps, looking lost. Some held paintbrushes but couldn't move them. Others stared at blank paper.

"Look there," Maya whispered, pointing to a boy with sandy hair. "That's Tom. He used to invent stories about flying carpets."

Tom sat motionless, a book open in his lap, his green eyes vacant.

Suddenly, a sharp mechanical whirring filled the air. A sleek silver drone descended from the cloudy sky, its blue lights blinking. A holographic businessman in a dark suit appeared above the device.

"Greetings, villagers," the figure announced in a crisp voice. "I am Mr. Nexus from Dream Corp Industries. We've been collecting your children's creative energies for our new product line."

Boulder stepped forward, his moss patches bristling. "You're stealing their dreams!"

The hologram smiled coldly. "Business is business, golem."
