The Empty Canvas

Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl stood on the highest balcony of her castle, watching the morning sun paint the sky in shades of orange and pink. Her blue mask caught the light as she gazed across Art Gallery Metropolis, where colorful buildings stretched toward the horizon like a giant painting come to life.

"Another beautiful day for creating," she said, adjusting her blue and black dress. Her magic paintbrush appeared in her hands with a soft shimmer, its bristles glowing faintly.

Down in the city streets, she spotted something unusual. A small figure sat hunched on a park bench, clutching what looked like a sketchbook. The girl's shoulders were shaking slightly.

Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl's large dark eyes narrowed with concern. She had seen many artists in the city, but this one seemed different. Sad, somehow.

"I wonder what's troubling her," she murmured, spreading her frilly gills slightly in thought. Without hesitation, she stepped off the balcony and took flight, her dress billowing as she soared toward the park below.

Pages in the Wind

Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl landed softly on the grass beside the park bench. The young girl looked up with tear-streaked cheeks, clutching her sketchbook tighter.

"Oh! I'm sorry," the girl whispered. "I didn't mean to disturb anyone."

"You're not disturbing me at all," Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl said gently. "I'm Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl. What's your name?"

"Luna," the girl said quietly. She had shoulder-length brown hair and green eyes that sparkled despite her tears. She wore a purple hoodie and jeans with paint stains on them.

"Those look like artist's stains," Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl observed, nodding at Luna's clothes.

Luna hugged her sketchbook closer. "I draw sometimes, but nobody wants to see them."

Suddenly, a group of older kids walked by. One pointed at Luna and laughed. "There's that weird girl with her secret drawings again!"

Luna's face turned red. She jumped up and started running toward the nearby laundromat, her sketchbook flying open. Pages scattered in the wind like white butterflies.

"Wait!" Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl called, but Luna had already disappeared inside the building.
