The Morning Routine

Buck stretched his long legs and yawned, his antlers catching the morning light streaming through the tall windows of Atomic Crayon Tower. The city of Antler Metropolis sparkled below, with both human and deer citizens starting their day.

He reached for his giant light blue crayon from the special holder beside his bed. The magical tool felt warm in his hands, as it always did.

"Time to practice," Buck said to himself, floating a few feet off the ground. He pointed the crayon toward his easel and began drawing a simple flower.

But something strange happened. The crayon tugged in his hand, pulling toward the paper on its own. The flower he meant to draw became a weird spinning wheel with gears and springs popping out.

"What the—" Buck stared at the drawing. The crayon had never moved by itself before.

He tried again, attempting a basic circle. Instead, the crayon drew a complicated contraption with tubes and blinking lights.

The Spinning Disaster

Buck stared at the strange contraption his crayon had drawn. The tubes seemed to pulse with their own rhythm.

"Maybe I should test this outside," he muttered, floating toward his balcony.

He stepped onto the platform overlooking Antler Metropolis. Morning traffic hummed below as deer and humans hurried to work. Buck held up his crayon, wondering what would happen next.

The crayon jerked forward again, this time drawing a massive spinning dish in the air. Real metal materialized from the drawing, clanking onto the balcony with a loud crash.

"What's going on up there?" called a voice from below.

Buck looked down to see Maya, a young human baker from the street level, pointing up at him. Her flour-dusted apron fluttered in the breeze.

"Nothing dangerous!" Buck called back, though he wasn't sure that was true.

The spinning dish suddenly whirred to life, shooting a bright beam across the city. Every electronic billboard, traffic light, and phone screen went completely dark.

Maya gasped. "The whole city just lost power!"

Buck's stomach dropped. His crayon had just knocked out all of Antler Metropolis.
