The Great Easter Mix-Up
Listen to audiobook
Purple Surprises
Chihiro bounced down the stairs on Easter morning, her pink-and-green outfit bright against the wooden steps. The living room sparkled with colored eggs tucked behind cushions and under tables.
"Look what I found!" she called to Mom and Dad, who were drinking coffee in the kitchen.
She cracked open a purple plastic egg. Instead of chocolate, a tiny book tumbled out. The cover read "Adventures in Space." Chihiro blinked twice.
"That's odd," Mom said, walking over with her shoulder-length dark hair catching the morning light.
Dad joined them, his casual shirt wrinkled from sleep. "Maybe the Easter Bunny made a mistake."
Chihiro opened another egg. Another book fell out.
The Chocolate Surprise
Then something caught Mom's eye near the bookshelf. She picked up a chocolate bunny from the floor.
"Chihiro, come look at this," Mom called.
Dad walked over too. Mom carefully unwrapped the foil around the chocolate bunny. Instead of solid chocolate, a tiny rolled-up book fell out.
"The Easter Bunny's Workshop Manual," Dad read from the tiny cover.
Chihiro gasped. "Books are in the candy, and candy was in the eggs!"
Just then, her phone buzzed with a text from her friend Yuki: "My Easter chocolates have books in them too! Is this happening everywhere?"
Mom's phone rang. It was Grandma calling from across town.
"The strangest thing happened," Grandma's voice crackled through the speaker. "My Easter cookies have tiny books baked inside them!"
