The Great Glow Contest

Flickering Doubts
Six Seven zipped through the moonlit branches of Firefly Land, her yellow body flickering like a tiny lantern. The forest sparkled with hundreds of her cousins, their lights dancing between oak leaves and flower petals.
"Did you hear?" buzzed her friend Glow, appearing beside a mushroom. "The Great Glow Contest is next week!"
Six Seven's light dimmed with worry. "But what if my glow goes out again?"
"It won't," Glow said cheerfully. "You just need practice!"
Six Seven wasn't so sure. Yesterday, her light had sputtered during hide-and-seek. The day before, it had died completely while she was showing off to the baby fireflies.
"Everyone will be watching," she whispered, her glow flickering nervously.
The Announcement
The next morning, Six Seven woke to excited chatter filling the forest. She fluttered to the Grand Oak where fireflies crowded around a bright yellow poster.
"What's happening?" she asked.
"Elder Bright is reading the contest rules," whispered Glow.
Elder Bright, an ancient firefly with silver wings, cleared his throat. "The Great Glow Contest will have three challenges. First, the Steady Beam test. Second, the Flash Dance competition. And finally..." He paused dramatically. "The Grand Finale, where contestants must keep their light burning for five whole minutes while performing acrobatics!"
Six Seven's glow flickered and died completely. Five minutes? She couldn't even stay lit for thirty seconds when nervous!
Around her, other fireflies buzzed with excitement, their lights pulsing brighter than ever.
