The Great Hair Rescue Mission
Listen to audiobook
Pink Scissors and Purple Eyes
Yuki adjusted her scissor hairpins as she unlocked the door to her magical salon in Nakaibito village. The morning sun sparkled off her pink dress and matching heels clicked against the wooden floor. Her purple eyes scanned the cozy shop filled with floating hair ribbons and enchanted combs that organized themselves.
"Another peaceful day," she hummed, polishing her scissors earrings.
The bell jingled violently as the door burst open. Mrs. Tanaka stumbled in, dragging five kicking, screaming boys by their collars. Their long, greasy hair hung in tangled mats over their faces.
"Please help us, Yuki!" Mrs. Tanaka panted. "These boys refuse haircuts. People mistake them for girls!"
The boys cowered behind each other. The tallest one, Ren, bit his nails nervously. "No scissors!" he shouted.
Riku and Haruto grabbed each other's arms. Kenji hid behind Hiroto, both trembling.
"We won't cut it!" Hiroto declared, though his voice shook.
Yuki's purple eyes softened as she watched them huddle together like frightened rabbits.
The Flying Scissors
Mrs. Tanaka stepped forward, her face stern. "Boys, your hair is too long. People think you're girls!"
"We don't care!" Ren shouted, biting his thumbnail harder.
Yuki noticed tears forming in Kenji's eyes. She knelt down to their level, her pink heels clicking softly.
"What happened to make you so scared?" she asked gently.
Hiroto's voice cracked. "The last barber... he cut Riku's ear with the scissors. There was blood everywhere!"
Riku touched his left ear, showing a small white scar. "It hurt so much. Then the clippers got tangled in Haruto's hair and pulled it out."
"The thinning shears pinched my scalp," Kenji whispered.
Suddenly, a small sparrow flew through the open window. It landed on Yuki's outstretched finger, chirping sweetly. The boys stopped crying to watch.
"Even little birds trust me," Yuki smiled. "But I understand your fear. Bad experiences hurt."
Mrs. Tanaka crossed her arms impatiently. "Enough talk! Just cut their hair now!"
The boys huddled closer together, trembling as they watched Yuki reach toward her scissors drawer.
