The Great Soap Shortage
Listen to audiobook
Morning Routines
Clara Sheep stretched her woolly arms above her head and yawned. The morning sun streamed through the tall windows of Shower Tower, casting cheerful rectangles of light across the marble floor.
"Another beautiful day for a shower!" she said to herself, adjusting her light blue towel that was wrapped snugly around her fluffy white wool.
She padded across the cool tiles toward her favorite spot—the walk-in shower area with its gleaming silver fixtures. The water pressure here was absolutely perfect, and the temperature controls never failed her.
But when Clara turned the golden handle, nothing happened.
She tried again, twisting it left, then right. Still nothing.
"That's odd," Clara mumbled, checking the other handles. Not a single drop of water emerged from any of the showerheads.
A knock echoed from the tower's front door. Clara's ears perked up as she heard familiar voices calling her name from outside.
The Morning Jogger
Clara hurried to the front door and pulled it open. Her two best friends stood on the doorstep, both looking worried.
"Darlene! Clarice!" Clara exclaimed, her towel fluttering as she gestured. "I'm so glad you're here. Something's wrong with my shower!"
Darlene, a tall humanoid rabbit with brown fur, shook her head. "It's not just your shower, Clara. The water's gone everywhere in Forest Metropolis!"
Clarice, a petite humanoid fox with orange fur, nodded quickly. "We tried the public fountains, the car washes, even the swimming pools. Nothing!"
Before Clara could respond, a jogger ran past the tower, shouting at the top of his lungs. "No soap anywhere! The stores are completely empty!"
Clara's gentle eyes widened. "No soap either?"
The jogger, a middle-aged human man with short black hair and a red tracksuit, stopped and jogged in place. "Every single bar, bottle, and bubble disappeared overnight! The whole city's going to get really stinky really fast!"
Darlene's long ears twitched nervously. "This is worse than we thought. Without water OR soap..."
"We have to find out what happened," Clara said, clutching her towel tighter. "And we have to fix it before everyone in Forest Metropolis smells terrible!"
