The Watching Eye

Paint Doe adjusted her paint-splat mask and surveyed her latest creation from the window of her art studio. The massive canvas stretched across the entire back wall, depicting a fierce dragon breathing rainbow flames over Paint Thicket's colorful landscape.

"Perfect," she whispered, dipping her brush into crimson paint. Her blue gloves sparkled as she added final touches to the dragon's scales.

A strange tingling sensation ran through her fingertips as she painted. The colors seemed brighter than usual, almost glowing. She stepped back to admire her work.

The dragon's painted eye seemed to follow her movement.

Paint Doe blinked hard. That couldn't be right. She moved to the left—the eye tracked her. To the right—it followed again.

"Impossible," she muttered, but excitement bubbled in her chest rather than fear.

She reached out to touch the canvas. The paint felt warm, almost alive beneath her gloved fingers. A low rumble echoed from somewhere deep within the painted world.

Her heart raced. Something extraordinary was happening to her art.

The Canvas Breaks

The rumbling grew louder. Paint Doe stepped back as cracks appeared across the canvas, spreading like spider webs through the painted landscape.

"What's happening?" she whispered.

The dragon's head pushed forward from the canvas, its rainbow scales shimmering as it broke free from the flat surface. Paint dripped from its body onto her studio floor, forming colorful puddles.

Paint Doe's heart hammered. Her creative imagination had always been strong, but this was impossible. Art couldn't come alive.

The dragon stretched its wings, knocking over her easel. It looked around the studio with intelligent eyes before focusing on her.

"You created me," it said in a voice like crackling fire. "I can feel your thoughts."

Before Paint Doe could respond, the dragon turned toward her window. Through the glass, she could see Paint Thicket below, where families of humanoid animals lived peacefully.

"Such a small world," the dragon mused. "I think I'll explore."

"Wait!" Paint Doe called, but the creature had already smashed through her window. Glass scattered as it soared into the afternoon sky above Canvas Forest City.

Paint Doe activated her flight power and zoomed after it, her blue gloves glowing with energy.
