Morning Rounds
Paintbrush Scribble Caribou stretched her hooves and yawned, sunlight streaming through the tall windows of her castle bedroom. Her rainbow cape hung neatly on a silver hook, and her blue supersuit was already laid out for the day.
"Good morning, Canvas Haven!" she called out cheerfully, stepping onto her balcony. The city below buzzed with activity as deer of all kinds and humans hurried along the sidewalks.
Her phone buzzed. A text from Mayor Antler: "Emergency at the art gallery! Come quickly!"
Paintbrush frowned. The Canvas Haven Art Gallery was the pride of their city, filled with magnificent paintings from artists across the world. She grabbed her supersuit and silver mask, pulling them on swiftly.
"Time to see what's wrong," she murmured, fastening her rainbow cape. Her giant glowing magic blue paintbrush materialized in her silver-gloved hands as she prepared to fly downtown.
Something told her this wouldn't be an ordinary Tuesday morning.
The Vanishing Colors
Paintbrush Scribble Caribou soared through the morning air, her rainbow cape streaming behind her. The Canvas Haven Art Gallery sat in the heart of downtown, its glass walls normally displaying colorful masterpieces for everyone to see.
But as she landed on the sidewalk, her hooves clicked against empty concrete. The gallery's windows were completely blank.
"What happened to all the paintings?" she whispered, pressing her silver-gloved hands against the glass.
A small hummingbird with emerald feathers zipped up to her shoulder. "You're the superhero, right? I saw everything! The paintings just... disappeared! Poof!" The tiny bird's wings beat frantically.
"Disappeared? How is that possible?" Paintbrush stepped back, studying the bare white walls inside.
"One minute they were there, next minute gone! No thieves, no trucks, nothing!" The hummingbird darted in circles. "My name's Ruby, by the way. I live in the oak tree across the street."
Paintbrush summoned her glowing blue paintbrush, its magical light casting shadows on the empty gallery walls. This wasn't just a robbery—this was something much stranger.
"Ruby, did you notice anything else unusual?"
"Well," Ruby chirped nervously, "right before it happened, all the paintings started... talking."
