Morning Mysteries
Paintbrush Mother Goat stood on the wooden balcony of Paintbrush Lodge, watching the sunrise paint the sky in orange and pink. Her seven kids were still asleep in their beds inside the futuristic lodge, nestled between the four towering paintbrush spires that sparkled in the morning light.
"Another peaceful day in Canvas Fairy Tale Land," she murmured, adjusting her red kerchief.
A small voice piped up behind her. "Mama, look!"
Her youngest daughter, Splash, pressed her nose against the window. "There's something on the tower!"
Mother Goat squinted at the nearest paintbrush tower. A colorful painting covered part of its silver surface—a beautiful landscape of rolling hills and dancing flowers that definitely wasn't there yesterday.
"How strange," she said, stepping closer. "Who could have painted that so high up?"
Splash's eyes widened with excitement. "Maybe it was magic fairies!"
Mother Goat examined the artwork more carefully. Fresh paint still glistened in spots, and she could see tiny droplets leading down the tower's smooth metal surface like breadcrumbs.
The Dripping Trail
By the time Mother Goat's other six kids gathered around the window, more paintings had appeared. Brush, her eldest daughter, pointed to the second tower where a portrait of a smiling fox gleamed in fresh purple and gold paint.
"Mama, there's another one!" called Dab, her youngest son.
Mother Goat's eyes widened. Three more towers now displayed artwork—a dancing hummingbird, a family of koalas sharing honey, and a sparrow perched on musical notes.
"Someone's been very busy," she murmured, studying the paint trails that zigzagged down each tower like silver streams.
"Maybe we should call the Canvas Fairy Tale Land Art Police," suggested Stroke, her practical middle daughter.
"Wait." Mother Goat held up a hoof. "Look at those paintings carefully. They're beautiful, but..." She paused, noticing something odd. Fresh paint was still dripping from the newest artwork, forming small puddles at the base of each tower.
"The artist might still be here," whispered Splash.
Suddenly, a splash echoed from behind the lodge. Then another. And another.
Mother Goat's ears perked up. "Kids, I think our mystery artist is painting right now."
