Morning Rounds

Super Ink Doe adjusted her red cape as she stepped onto the observation deck of Super Ink Tower. The morning sun painted Chapter Canvas City in brilliant hues below her. Buildings sparkled with colorful murals, and the streets bustled with deer and humans heading to work.

"Another beautiful day," she murmured, her dark eyes scanning the vibrant cityscape. Her blue and black supersuit caught the light as she stretched, ready for her daily patrol.

A gentle breeze ruffled her cape. She loved these quiet moments before the city fully awakened. The parks gleamed emerald green, the fountains shimmered crystal blue, and every storefront displayed rainbow signs.

Her communicator buzzed softly. "Good morning, Super Ink," came the voice of Mayor Antler, a distinguished elk who ran the city. "Just checking in. All quiet on your end?"

"Perfectly peaceful," she replied, taking one last look at the colorful panorama spread beneath her tower.

But as she prepared to leap into flight, something felt different. Something she couldn't quite name.

The Colorless Fountain

Super Ink Doe launched herself into the morning sky, her red cape billowing behind her. As she soared above the bustling streets, something caught her eye. The fountain in Central Plaza looked different.

She landed with a soft thud on the cobblestones. The fountain, which should have sparkled brilliant blue, ran completely clear. No hint of the sapphire color that usually danced in its waters.

"That's odd," she murmured, kneeling beside the fountain's edge.

A small sparrow perched on the fountain's rim chirped frantically. The tiny bird's feathers were brown and gray, but Super Ink Doe remembered this particular sparrow having bright blue wing tips.

"Your blue is missing too," she whispered.

The sparrow fluttered its wings and pointed with its beak toward the market square. Super Ink Doe followed its gaze and gasped. Every blue awning, every blue sign, every blue flower had turned gray or white.

Her communicator buzzed urgently. "Super Ink! Emergency at the market!" Mayor Antler's voice crackled through the device. "All the blue has vanished from everywhere!"

Super Ink Doe's heart raced. This wasn't just her imagination. Something had stolen every trace of blue from Chapter Canvas City.
