Morning Rounds
Turbo Paintbrush Doe adjusted her teal gloves as she stepped onto the observation deck of Turbo Paintbrush Tower. The morning sun painted Canvas Forest City in golden hues below. Humans and forest creatures bustled through the streets, heading to work and school.
"Another peaceful day," she murmured, her big expressive eyes scanning the horizon. Her small antlers caught the light as she turned.
A red cardinal landed on the railing beside her. "Good morning, Turbo! Everything looks quiet from up here."
"That's exactly how I like it, Ruby," Turbo replied, her white muzzle breaking into a smile. She summoned her giant magical paintbrush, its surface glowing softly in her hands. "Ready for our morning patrol?"
Ruby chirped excitedly. "Always! The city looks extra beautiful today."
Turbo activated her flight powers, rising gracefully into the air. Ruby fluttered alongside her as they began their routine sweep of the city. The tower's paintbrush shape cast a long shadow across the plaza below, where early morning vendors were setting up their colorful stalls.
Silver Trails and Empty Frames
As they circled the tower's peak, Turbo's X-ray vision caught something unusual through the walls. The special display room's security glass was shattered, sparkling fragments scattered across the floor.
"Ruby, look!" Turbo pointed her paintbrush toward the tower. "Something's wrong in the gallery."
The red cardinal fluttered nervously beside her. "Should we call the authorities first?"
Turbo activated her teleportation power, appearing instantly inside the damaged room. Ruby flew through the broken window moments later. The most precious painting in Canvas Forest City—"The Heart of the Forest"—was gone. Only its empty golden frame remained on the wall.
"This can't be happening," Turbo whispered, examining the scene. Paint drops led toward the emergency stairs, but they were an unusual silver color she'd never seen before.
A small sparrow landed on the windowsill, breathing heavily. "I saw someone in a hooded cloak carrying something big down the fire escape about twenty minutes ago," the sparrow chirped. "They had silver paint on their shoes."
Turbo's antlers tilted forward as she studied the strange paint trail. "Ruby, this isn't ordinary paint. It shimmers differently."
