Morning Routine

Paintbrush Mother Goat stretched her arms as morning sunlight streamed through the tall windows of Paintbrush Castle. Her rainbow cape caught the light beautifully as she walked down the spiral staircase.

"Time for breakfast, little ones!" she called to her seven kid goats.

Pip, the smallest, bounded over with paint smudges on his white fur. "Mama, can we paint the garden today?"

"After breakfast," she smiled, adjusting her blue-and-black dress. "And after you wash those paint spots off."

The other kids giggled as they gathered around the large wooden table. Mother Goat reached for her magic paintbrush to create colorful pancakes, but something felt different. The brush felt heavier than usual.

"Strange," she murmured, giving it a gentle wave.

Outside the window, she noticed the morning sky looked oddly pale. The flowers in Canvas Valley below seemed less vibrant than yesterday.

"Mama, why do the roses look so faded?" asked Rosie, pressing her nose against the glass.

The Colorless Dawn

Mother Goat stepped outside with her kids trailing behind her. The garden that yesterday bloomed with bright red roses and yellow sunflowers now looked completely gray.

"Everything looks like an old photograph," whispered Daisy, one of the kid goats.

Mother Goat raised her magic paintbrush and aimed it at the nearest flowerbed. She concentrated hard, trying to summon her paint blast power. A tiny drop of pale gray paint dribbled from the brush tip and splashed onto the ground.

"That's not right," she muttered, shaking the brush.

Suddenly, a small hummingbird zoomed past them, but instead of its usual emerald green feathers, it appeared completely colorless. The bird crashed into a tree branch and tumbled to the grass.

"Poor little thing!" cried Rosie, rushing to help.

The hummingbird fluttered weakly in her hands. "The colors," it chirped in a tiny voice. "Someone took all the colors from Canvas Valley last night. Even from us creatures."

Mother Goat's golden eyes widened. Her paintbrush felt heavier in her hands as she looked around at the gray world surrounding them.

"Who would do such a thing?" she asked.
