The View From Above
Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl stood at the highest window of her castle, watching the sprawling Art Gallery Metropolis below. The city buzzed with creative energy, but something felt wrong. Through her X-ray vision, she could see into the art studios scattered across the neighborhoods. A young painter sat alone, staring at a blank canvas. Three blocks away, a sculptor worked in silence, no friends to share her excitement about a new piece. An elderly sketch artist ate lunch by herself, surrounded by beautiful drawings no one would ever see.
"The artists are so lonely," Ms. Paintbrush whispered to herself, her frilly gills trembling with concern. She adjusted her blue mask and gripped her glowing magic paintbrush tighter.
The four paintbrush towers of her castle stood tall around her, but they weren't being used for anything special yet. She had always wondered if they could do something more than just look impressive. Maybe they could help somehow.
Her large dark eyes sparkled with the beginning of an idea.
The Parrot's Warning
Ms. Paintbrush Axolotl hurried down the spiral staircase of her castle, her mind buzzing with possibilities. She could use her paintbrush towers to connect the lonely artists somehow. But how exactly would that work?
As she reached the main hall, a bright green parrot crashed through the open window, squawking frantically. The bird's feathers were ruffled and its orange eyes were wide with panic.
"The artists! The artists are disappearing!" the parrot screeched, landing on Ms. Paintbrush's shoulder. "One by one, they're vanishing from their studios!"
Ms. Paintbrush's heart sank. She activated her X-ray vision and peered across the city. The young painter's studio was empty now. The sculptor's workshop stood silent. Even the elderly sketch artist was nowhere to be seen.
"Where did they go?" she asked the parrot.
"Underground! Something's pulling them down through the floors!" The parrot flapped its wings nervously. "They had no time to scream!"
Ms. Paintbrush gripped her glowing magic paintbrush tighter. Her plan to connect artists would have to wait. First, she needed to save them from whatever mysterious force was stealing them away.
