The Paintbrush Portal Problem

Morning Experiments
Crayon Paintbrush Doe adjusted her red mask and gazed out from the highest tower of her fortress. Canvas City stretched below her like a living artwork, with humans and humanoid deer walking together through colorful streets. The two crayon towers gleamed silver in the morning sun, while the twin paintbrush towers cast long shadows across the courtyard.
"Another peaceful day," she murmured, flexing her yellow gloves. Her orange cape fluttered in the breeze as she prepared for her morning patrol.
She had been practicing with her newest invention all week – a special paintbrush designed to create stronger, more vibrant colors. The device hummed with energy as she held it, its tip glowing softly with contained power.
"Let me test this beauty," she said, pointing the paintbrush toward an empty canvas she had mounted on the tower wall.
As she activated the brush, something felt different. The usual gentle flow of paint became a rushing torrent. Instead of creating her intended rainbow design, the paintbrush shot a beam of swirling colors that tore a jagged hole right through the air itself.
"What in Canvas City?" she gasped, staring at the impossible sight before her.
The Orange Visitor
Through the jagged hole, something bright orange tumbled out and crashed into the tower wall with a loud clank. Crayon Paintbrush Doe stepped back as the object rolled to a stop near her feet.
"A traffic cone?" she said, picking up the familiar orange plastic shape. "But this isn't from Canvas City."
She peered through the tear in the air. On the other side, she could see a bustling street filled with yellow taxi cabs and honking cars. Humans in business suits hurried past, completely unaware of the portal floating above their heads.
"Oh no," she whispered. "I've opened a doorway to another world."
A small, chattering sound made her turn around. A brown monkey wearing a tiny baseball cap had somehow appeared on her tower balcony. It clutched a half-eaten banana and stared at her with curious eyes.
"Where did you come from?" she asked.
The monkey pointed at the portal with its banana, then scampered up to perch on one of the crayon towers. More sounds echoed from the hole - car horns, sirens, and voices calling in a language she didn't recognize.
Her paintbrush invention had definitely created more than just a colorful mess.
