Creative Crayon Fortress sat in the middle of Super Forest City like a black block with blue windows stuck on it. Four blue crayon towers pointed up at the clouds.

Creative Crayon Doe jogged down a glossy hallway, cape flicking behind her.

Her phone buzzed. “Audio complaints up,” said a city app alert. “Popping sounds near public speakers.”

The roof smelled like rain on warm metal. Four blue crayon towers circled a flat platform. Puddles quivered with every distant squeak.

A human woman with short black hair crouched by an audio console. Her orange vest glowed under the tower lights.

“Finally,” she said. “I’m Mira. Don’t breathe loud.”

She tapped her tablet. “Testing.”

The towers screamed. The puddles jumped. Doe’s cape snapped like a flag.

Mira’s screen showed big red words: “FESTIVAL MODE: AUTO-AMPLIFY.”

Whisperbrush’s ears flattened. “I can paint it quiet,” he whispered, “but if you watch me, I—”
