Morning at the Fortress

Artist Zebra Doe stretched her arms as sunlight streamed through the tall windows of Zebra Deer Fortress. Her blue supersuit with its black ink splats gleamed in the morning light, and her rainbow cape fluttered softly behind her as she walked to her art studio.

"Perfect day for painting," she said to herself, adjusting her blue mask. Her small antlers caught the light as she turned toward her supplies.

But something felt wrong. The paint tubes on her easel looked fewer than yesterday. She counted them twice, frowning.

"I could have sworn I had twelve tubes of red paint," she muttered, checking the shelves. Only eight remained.

Her friend Luna, a humanoid zebra with silver stripes and purple eyes, knocked on the studio door. Luna wore a green jumpsuit and had her black hair tied in twin braids.

"Ready for your big art show prep?" Luna asked cheerfully.

"Something's strange," Zebra Doe replied, still staring at her paint supplies. "My paints keep disappearing."

The City-Wide Crisis

Luna's purple eyes widened as she examined the empty spaces on the paint shelf. "That's really weird, Zebra Doe. Who would steal paint?"

Before Zebra Doe could answer, her phone buzzed with an urgent message. She pulled it from her utility belt and gasped.

"What is it?" Luna asked, peering over her friend's shoulder.

"It's from Rainbow Paint Factory downtown," Zebra Doe said, her voice tight with concern. "They're reporting massive paint thefts all across Forest Savanah Metropolis. Entire art supply stores have been cleaned out overnight."

Luna grabbed her own phone and scrolled through the local news. "Look at this! The Children's Art Center lost all their supplies too. And the community mural project downtown - someone took every single paint can they had stored."

Zebra Doe's small antlers drooped as the reality hit her. "My art show is in three days, Luna. If I can't get more paint..."

"We have to do something," Luna said firmly, adjusting her green jumpsuit. "This isn't just about your show anymore. Every artist in the city is in trouble."

Through the fortress windows, they could see other buildings in the distance - and several had colorful splatters on their walls that definitely hadn't been there yesterday.
