Morning Sketches
Crayon Polar Bear stretched her arms wide as morning sunlight streamed through the crystal windows of her tower home. The Crayon Polar Tower stood tall on the peaceful island of Lesbos, its ice walls gleaming like a giant blue crayon reaching toward the clouds.
"Another beautiful day to help anyone who needs it," she said, adjusting her flowing blue cape.
She walked to her art studio on the third floor, where dozens of her colorful drawings hung on the walls. Her giant magic crayon rested in its special holder, glowing softly with creative energy.
But something was different today.
On her easel sat a fresh sheet of paper she didn't remember putting there. And on it was a simple pencil sketch of a small bird with one wing folded awkwardly.
"That's strange," Crayon Polar Bear murmured, studying the drawing. "I always use my magic crayon, never pencils."
She reached toward the paper, but suddenly the tiny bird's head turned to look right at her.
The Sparrow's Warning
Crayon Polar Bear gasped and stepped back from the easel. The tiny sketched bird blinked its black dot eyes at her.
"Hello," she whispered. "Can you understand me?"
The bird nodded once, then pointed its pencil-drawn wing toward the window. Outside, real sparrows were gathering on the tower's ice ledges. More and more arrived until dozens covered every surface.
"Are you trying to tell me something about them?" Crayon Polar Bear asked.
The drawing bird frantically tapped the paper with its beak. Tap, tap, tap-tap-tap. Then it pointed outside again.
She rushed to the window. The real sparrows were all looking in the same direction - toward the music festival happening in the town square below. Colorful banners fluttered, and the sound of laughter drifted up.
But something was wrong. The sparrows looked frightened, huddling close together.
Suddenly, the drawing bird let out a silent screech on the paper, flapping its sketched wings wildly. At that exact moment, all the real sparrows outside took flight at once, fleeing toward the snowy hills beyond the town.
"What scared them away?" Crayon Polar Bear wondered aloud.
