The Speed Paint Challenge

Hidden Colors
Paint Doe crouched behind a cluster of paint-splattered trees in Paint Thicket, watching the morning bustle of Canvas Forest City below. Her black supersuit blended with the shadows while her blue gloves traced nervous patterns in the air.
"Another art contest announcement," she whispered, seeing the holographic banner floating above the city square. The annual Speed Paint Challenge would begin next week, and every artist in the city was buzzing with excitement.
A small voice made her jump. "You hiding again, Paint Doe?"
She spun around to find Sketch, a young fox with orange and white fur wearing a green artist's smock. Paint brushes poked out from his pockets like colorful quills.
"I'm not hiding," Paint Doe said, though her paint-splat mask couldn't hide the uncertainty in her voice. "I'm just... observing."
Sketch tilted his head. "You know you're the best artist in the whole thicket, right? Everyone talks about your secret paintings."
Paint Doe's ears flattened. "They're not that good."
"Come on! I've seen the way colors dance when you're around. There's something special about—"
A low rumble interrupted them, making both friends look toward the horizon with worry.
Gray Shadows March
The rumble grew louder, shaking paint drops from the branches above them. Paint Doe grabbed Sketch's paw as they peered through the colorful foliage.
"Look!" Sketch pointed toward the city's edge.
Gray metal shapes rolled across the hills like storm clouds touching ground. Robots, dozens of them, marched in perfect lines toward Canvas Forest City. Their metallic bodies reflected no color, only dull silver that seemed to drain the brightness from everything around them.
"They're heading straight for the art district," Paint Doe whispered, her voice tight with worry.
The robots moved with mechanical precision, each step synchronized. As they passed flowering meadows, the vibrant petals turned ashen gray. Even the rainbow bridges spanning the city's canals lost their shine.
Sketch pulled out his phone and started recording. "Nobody's going to believe this without proof."
Paint Doe watched the lead robot raise a strange device that shot gray beams at colorful murals on distant buildings. The artwork faded to nothing but empty, lifeless walls.
"They're destroying all the art," she breathed.
Below them, Canvas Forest City's alarm bells began ringing. Citizens ran through the streets, their voices carrying panic on the wind.
