The Star-Pen Space Patch

The Quiet Tear
Ursa Major stood in the highest pen tower of Pen Dragon Castle, where the windows were wide enough to feel like a stage.
Outside, Craft Room Kingdom glittered with desk lamps and toy streetlights. Inside, dragon statues held ink trays in their stone claws.
An arctic fox maid hurried by, pushing a cart stacked with paper rolls.
“Fenn,” Ursa called.
The fox stopped. “Yes, Your Highness?”
A sound snapped overhead—sharp, flat, like someone tearing a giant sheet.
The curtains jumped. A cold draft brushed Ursa’s nose.
Ursa’s paw tightened on her star-tipped pen. “Did you hear that?”
Fenn’s ears went up. “I did. It came from outside, not the hall.”
He pulled out his phone, hands steady, and showed a shaky video from a guard.
Across the night sky ran a thin pale line, like a scratch on dark paint.
Ursa leaned closer. “That is not our roof.”
Fenn swallowed. “Should I lock the tower?”
Ursa stepped toward the stair door. “No. Bring tape. I want to see it from the roof first.”
The Leaky Tune
Ursa pushed open the roof door.
Cold wind slapped her fur. The pale line in the sky was wider now, and it made a sound like a huge page rubbing.
Fenn—the arctic fox maid in his neat uniform and blue apron—climbed up behind her, hugging a roll of tape to his chest.
From below, music thumped. The castle roof lights blinked in time, like someone had plugged the moon into a speaker.
A tiny hummingbird buzzed up and smacked the chimney with a ping. It was not alive. It was tin and plastic, with a little camera eye and a paper label: FESTIVAL DRONE.
It wobbled, then chirped in a scratchy voice, “Stage tent collapsing. Air going up. Puddles floating.”
Ursa lifted her star pen. “I can close a scratch.”
She fired one bright ink blast.
The sky-tear answered with a loud rip. The wind yanked her cape straight up.
Ursa slammed one paw on the roof rail. “Okay. Not that.”
Fenn pointed at the tape. “Small test first?”
Ursa swallowed and nodded, then stepped to the edge and looked down at the festival lights
