Reluctant Appointments

Ebony ran her fingers through her long black hair one last time before stomping down the creaky stairs of their Victorian manor. The floorboards groaned under her red boots as she found her twin brother Edward in the kitchen, his equally long black hair hanging over his pale face like a curtain.

"I can't believe they're making us do this," Ebony muttered, adjusting her red purse strap. Her black eyes flashed with annoyance.

Edward looked up from his untouched breakfast of... well, it wasn't exactly cereal. "Our hair has been this length for decades, Ebony. Why change it now?"

"Because apparently we can't transform properly anymore," she said, making air quotes with her red-painted nails. "Only our wings pop out. So embarrassing."

Their mother Carmilla glided into the room, her own dark hair perfectly styled. "Children, the appointment is at sunset. Willow's Supernatural Salon has the best reputation in Grimsley."

"A witch cutting our hair," Edward groaned. "What could possibly go wrong?"

The Unexpected Delivery

As they walked toward the front door, a loud thud echoed from the porch. Edward peered through the dusty window and groaned.

"Great. Just what we needed today."

A mail carrier stood outside, clutching a large brown box. But this wasn't any ordinary mail carrier—he was a zombie with patchy green skin and one drooping eye. His uniform hung crooked on his slouched shoulders.

"Special delivery for the vampire twins," he mumbled through rotting teeth. "From Willow's Supernatural Salon."

Ebony snatched the box before Edward could protest. Inside, two matching salon capes sparkled with silver threads, along with a handwritten note.

"Wear these during your appointment," she read aloud. "They'll help with the transformation process. Also, my assistant ghosts Coraline and Bella will be there to help. Don't worry—they're very friendly! - Willow"

Edward's pale cheeks turned slightly pink. "Ghost assistants?"

"Says here Coraline has a button for one eye, and Bella has a hole where her eye should be," Ebony continued, her own cheeks warming.

The zombie mail carrier shuffled away, leaving the twins staring at each other with nervous excitement.
