The Tent That Wouldn't Stay Up
Listen to audiobook
The Forest Journey Begins
Jeanie bounced in the backseat as Norman's family van pulled into Whispering Willow Forest. The tall trees swayed gently, their long branches creating dancing shadows on the ground.
"Are we there yet?" she asked, pressing her nose against the window. Golden sunlight filtered through the green canopy above.
Norman's dad parked near a clearing. "This looks perfect for our campsite!"
Jeanie grabbed her backpack and jumped out. The forest smelled like pine and fresh air. She spun around, taking in all the beautiful willow trees surrounding them.
"This is going to be the best camping trip ever!" she declared, her blue eyes sparkling with excitement.
The Blue Tangle
Norman jumped out of the van with his sleeping bag. "Let's set up camp before it gets dark!"
Jeanie pulled out her bright blue tent from her backpack. She had practiced setting it up in her backyard three times. This would be easy!
She spread the tent on the ground and pushed the first pole through the fabric. It bent the wrong way and popped out.
"Uh oh," she muttered.
Norman was already hammering stakes for his family's big green tent. His mom unpacked sandwiches from a cooler.
Jeanie tried again. This time the pole went in, but when she lifted the tent, the whole thing collapsed on her head.
"Help!" she called from under the blue fabric.
