The Morning Patrol
Drawing Man stood on the highest balcony of his Crayon Tower, watching the sun rise over Creative City. The morning light sparkled off the glass buildings below, where humanoid sheep and deer hurried to work alongside humans. Everything looked perfect.
He adjusted his light blue cape and checked his giant magic crayon, its surface gleaming with power. Today felt like any other day in his peaceful city.
"Good morning, Drawing Man!" called Sketch, a young humanoid sheep with fluffy white wool and bright purple overalls. She waved from the street below, her artist's satchel bouncing as she jogged toward the Art Academy.
Drawing Man waved back, then noticed something odd. The red roses in Mrs. Henderson's flower shop looked... duller than yesterday. He rubbed his green eyes and looked again. The roses definitely seemed less vibrant.
"Probably just tired," he muttered, but a small worry tugged at his mind. He'd invented a new Color Enhancement Machine last week to make the city even more beautiful. Had something gone wrong?
The Strange Machine
Drawing Man decided to check his Color Enhancement Machine. He flew down from the Crayon Tower and walked through the fortress halls to his invention workshop.
The machine stood in the corner, humming loudly. It looked like a giant washing machine mixed with a rainbow printer. Colorful tubes snaked across the floor, and a control panel blinked with dozens of buttons.
"Everything looks normal," he muttered, pressing the green status button.
The machine's screen showed alarming red warnings: "COLOR ABSORPTION RATE: 300% ABOVE NORMAL." Drawing Man's stomach dropped. His invention wasn't enhancing colors—it was stealing them!
Just then, Melody the hummingbird zipped through the open window. Her usually brilliant emerald feathers looked gray and dull.
"Drawing Man!" she chirped in her tiny voice. "Something terrible is happening! All the flowers in Blossom Park are turning white. The butterflies can't find food because they can't see which flowers have nectar!"
Drawing Man stared at his machine's blinking lights. He had created this disaster. His invention was draining all the color from Creative City, and now the animals were suffering too.
